The legend would like those who oppose gay marriage for whatever religious reasons to re-read the New Testament which he quoted as follows,
"The hierarchy of the church, the traditionalists may be struggling, but times have changed," the singer told Dermot Murnaghan for Sky News.
Adding that,
"If Jesus Christ were alive today, I cannot imagine, given the Christian and how wonderful a man he was, he would oppose it. It was love and compassion and forgiveness, and he was trying to bring people together and that is what should serve the church."
Meanwhile, John and his longtime partner, David Furnish , adopted two sons together and intend to marry next year in London, now that gay marriage is been made legal in England.
The singing superstar has chosen Lady Gaga as godmother to his two children.
