In case you haven't heard, Miley Cyrus lit a joint on stage and smoked it during Sunday night's MTV European Music Awards (you can see a full recap of Cyrus' evening here).
After the controversial moment went down, those of the "marijuana is just natural herbs" variety probably just shrugged their shoulders and went about their evenings. Others, like, say, the Parents Television Council, couldn't let it go. The group later applauded MTV for editing out the footage of the "Wrecking Ball" singer's big puff puff before it aired on Stateside MTV:
"Last night MTV made a responsible decision and they executed it perfectly,” PTC President Tim Winter said (via Entertainment Weekly). “It is unclear whether MTV’s actions suggest stricter content guidelines for its TV-14 programming, or whether this is just an example of the old saying that ‘even a broken clock is right twice each day.’ We certainly hope it is the former. We applaud MTV for taking responsible actions to eliminate the drug use from its U.S. broadcast, and we urge them to make that a uniform policy for all of its programming.”
For those of you who were offended by Cyrus' latest stage act, don't expect an apology from the pop star any time soon. Following the MTV EMAs, the singer posted this eloquent explanation of her actions via Twitter:
